A group of Jewish artists has released a music video on YouTube in support of jailed kosher meatpacking executive Sholom Rubashkin. Rubaskin was sentenced to 27 years in federal prison last year on 86 counts of fraud at the Agriprocessors meatpacking plant in Postville, Iowa.
The YouTube video, reminiscent of USA for Africa’s "We Are The World," features more than 40 Jewish musicians, including some big names like Mordechai Ben David (who co-wrote the song), hasidic musician Lipa Schmeltzer, Israeli religious folk singer Aaron Razel and hip-hop artist Y-love.
As JTA noted in August, there are calls for a Rubashkin retrial based on an alleged conflict of interest involving the presiding judge, U.S. District Court Chief Judge Linda Reade. Here’s the video:
