JERUSALEM (JTA) — Egyptian police shot and killed two African migrants trying to enter Israel illegally.
The men killed Sunday near Rafah were not carrying any identity papers, so their countries of origin could not be confirmed. They had refused police commands to stop.
On Saturday, three migrants — two Ethiopians and an Eritrean — were shot and wounded as they attempted to cross the border into Israel.
Most migrants are looking for work. Israel has demanded that Egypt crack down on the number of border infiltrations.
