JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel’s Air Force bombed a group of terrorists in Gaza as they prepared to launch a rocket at Israel.

Four Palestinians were wounded in the strike last Friday morning on northern Gaza, according to reports. The launcher also was destroyed.

The strikes come less than a day after five mortar shells fired from Gaza the previous afternoon hit an open area in the Negev, causing no casualties.

Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers prevented a major terror attack after identifying a man carrying a bomb along the Egyptian border.

When the soldiers ordered the man to stop early Nov. 26, he threw down the sack carrying the 33-pound explosive and disappeared back into Egypt, according to reports, following an announcement by the Israel Defense Forces.

It was not known whether the alleged terrorist was a Gaza resident who entered Egypt through a smuggling tunnel or a terrorist operating in the Sinai Peninsula, according to reports.

The bomb likely was meant for Eilat, though the bomber could have been heading toward a major central Israeli city, Israeli security officials told Israel’s Channel 10.
