(JTA) — About a dozen Israeli border policemen were lightly wounded Friday in clashes with Arab rock throwers in eastern Jerusalem.
Four of the policement injured in the incident in the Ras el-Amud neighborhood were taken to the hospital, while seven were treated at the scene, according to media reports. Two Palestinians were arrested.
Palestinians also threw rocks at security forces in Sur Baher, but no injuries were reported.
No incidents were reported after Friday prayers on the Temple Mount, which was restricted to worshippers 50 and over.
Hamas had declared Friday a "day of rage" and urged demonstrations at the Al-Aksa Mosque on the Temple Mount. There have been numerous clashes between Arabs and Israeli police in Jerusalem in recent days.
