The John and Catherine MacArthur Foundation yesterday announced the recipients of its annual MacArthur “Genius” Grants, the renowned $500,000 stipends.

Rob Eshman, the editor of the LA Jewish Journal has gone through the recipients and picked out the Jews on his “Bloggish” blog.

Deborah Eisenberg, 63, a short-story writer, Beth Shapiro, 33, an evolutionary biologist at Pennsylvania State University and Elyn Saks, 53, a law professor at the University of Southern California, were among the winners.
