WASHINGTON (JTA) — Two dovish pro-Israel groups are exploring a formal collaborative relationship.
"Brit Tzedek’s Board of Directors is interested in discussing with J Street how best its network of chapters, activists and rabbis can potentially align with J Street’s political, lobbying and communications operations to make our movement as effective and far-reaching as possible," Brit Tzedek said in a statement Tuesday.
Jeremy Ben Ami, J Street’s executive director, said in a statement timed for simultaneous release that “J Street is excited to explore how a national grassroots operation can enhance our existing work, building support and momentum for U.S. efforts to promote peace and security in the Middle East."
The announcement comes as J Street is seeking a national field director for grass-roots organizing and Brit Tzedek dropped its own search for an executive director.
J Street is a lobbying and advocacy group with a separate political action fund-raising arm. Brit Tzedek is a grass-roots group that claims to have about 45,000 activists nationwide.
J Street in part was the result of efforts led by Ben Ami several years ago to unite the dovish pro-Israel groups.
