WASHINGTON (JTA) — Egyptian police shot and killed an African migrant trying to cross the border into Israel.
The migrant and a 20-year-old Eritrean were attempting to breach a barbed wire barrier Friday when security forces ordered them to halt, Ha’aretz reported. Police fired on them when they failed to comply. The Eritrean was arrested but unharmed.
With the migrant’s shooting, at least seven Africans have been killed at the border since mid-May.
