NEW YORK (JTA) — Pop diva Madonna wrote about her discovery of Kabbalah in an Israeli newspaper.
In her piece, which appeared Friday in the daily Yediot Achronot, Madonna recalls the immediate impact Kabbalah had on her life after she was introduced to it 13 years ago at a class taught by a teacher named Eitan.
"I heard what he had to say and I knew at this moment my life would never be the same," the Catholic-born singer wrote. "Life no longer seemed like a series of random events. I also began to see that being rich and famous wasn’t going to bring me lasting fulfillment and that it was not the end of the journey."
In recent years, a growing number of Hollywood stars have embraced Kabbalah, including such pop icons as Britney Spears and Ashton Kutcher.
Madonna will be in Israel for two concerts in September as part of her Sticky & Sweet tour.
