JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel’s deputy foreign minister asked visiting U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.) to ensure that U.S. funds given to the Palestinians do not reach Hamas.
Danny Ayalon met with Lowey, the chairwoman of the U.S. House of Representatives Appropriation Subcommittee, in Jerusalem on Thursday morning. "We cannot allow these funds to reach the hands of the terrorists," Ayalon said of the additional funds the United States is transferring to the Palestinians. "This is vital."
Ayalon also thanked Lowey for the extra funding for the Arrow missile project and told her that "The United States is Israel’s strongest and most important ally."
