Charles "Chas" Freeman will be investigated by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s Inspector General. Confirming a report this morning in the Washington Times, Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) has released a letter he received Thursday from Edward Maguire in response to a letter Kirk and eight other members of Congress sent earlier this week. Maguire states that he is "examining the matters you have raised and will respond upon completion." Here’s the full letter:
Office of the Director of National Intelligence
Office of the Inspector General
Washington, DC 20511
March 5, 2009
Dear Members of Congress:
I have received your joint letter, dated March 3, 2009, requesting my office to investigate Ambassador Charles “Chas” Freeman’s “past and current relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia-both personal financial disclosures and the list of all contributors to the Middle East Policy Council across all years that Ambassador Freeman drew a salary from the foundation-and report back to Congress on any potential conflicts of interest.”
We are examining the matters you have raised and will respond upon completion.
Sincerely,
Edward Maguire
