JERUSALEM (JTA) — The United Nations is trying to raise $613 million to aid the Palestinians in Gaza.
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon made the announcement Thursday during a news conference at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The money raised in the U.N. appeal will provide for short-term necessities such as food, water, shelter and medical care. An appeal for long-term needs will be launched later, Ban said.
