The family of the policeman killed by Samir Kuntar is angry but not surprised that he has returned to terror.
A video of the Lebanese Druse terrorist, who was responsible for the death of four Israelis, including a 4-year old girl and her father in a 1979 attack, was made public this week showing Kuntar receiving weapons training with live gunfire.
Kuntar was released from an Israeli prison and repatriated to Lebanon this summer as part of an exchange for the remains of captured Israeli soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev.
The family of Eliyahu Shahar, a policeman who was killed in the 1979 attack, had appealed to Israel’s High Court of Justice to prevent the release.
“The Kuntar deal was despicable,” Yoram Shahar, Eliyahu’s brother, told Ynet Tuesday. “We said from the onset that it’s something we would grow to regret.
“What we saw in this movie is just the tip of the iceberg. Kuntar will carry out a major attack against Israel, which has placed its fate squarely in the hands of murderers.”
