A Republican congressman is scheduled to attend a fund-raiser for a group that has argued for legal limits on AIPAC.
U.S. Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (R-Md.) is speaking at a fund-raising dinner next month for the Council for the National Interest. Tickets to the event range between $100 and $5,000, according to a council release.
The group, which is strongly critical of Israeli policies and lobbies against the current close U.S.-Israel relationship, has argued for years for the imposition of legal limitations on the lobbying abilities of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. It says AIPAC does not represent American interests.
