Israelis marked Gilad Shalit’s birthday outside the Gaza crossing where he was abducted three years ago.
The event Wednesday marked the kidnapped soldier’s 22nd birthday, which was also scheduled to be marked Thursday at his family’s Mitzpe Hila home and marked with a demonstration in Tel Aviv.
Miki Goldwasser, mother of abducted solder Ehud Goldwasser, whose body was returned to Israel by Hezbollah last month in a prisoner swap, accused the Israeli government of not doing enough to bring about Shalit’s release.
“I’m here because three families started this journey, and my mission is not over yet. It will end only when Gilad Shalit is returned,” she said. “This is a shared struggle.”
