Most of Israel’s Jews keep kosher to a degree, according to restaurateurs.
Chefs and cuisine experts converged Wednesday on Petach Tikvah in central Israel for a festival dubbed “Eating Kosher” and designed to promote high-quality eating the Jewish way.
Participants’ data broadcast by Israel’s Channel 1 television showed that 70 percent of Jewish homes in Israel have kosher kitchens. Fifty percent of Jewish Israelis choose kosher when eating out.
Israel has some 1,000 kosher restaurants.
