German police are investigating the vandalism of a synagogue near Hamburg.
A stone was thrown through a window into the sanctuary on Tuesday, according to the president of the Pinneberg Jewish community, Wolfgang Seibert.
Later, in an anonymous call to the community’s office, a male voice said, “The same thing can happen more often. You’ve got no more peace.” He concluded with the Nazi phrase of salute to Hitler, “Sieg Heil.”
Siebert noted an increase in right-wing propaganda and incidents in the area, including political stickers from the neo-Nazi National Democratic Party of Germany, anti-Semitic verbal attacks and an attempt to interrupt a Jewish wedding.
The Jewish community of Pinneberg has 180 members.
