Canada and Israel are partnering on issues of public safety.
Canadian Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day and Avi Dichter, Israel’s minister of public security, signed an agreement of intent earlier this week in Jerusalem.
The agreement aims “to enhance cooperation in the area of public safety” and address “common threats,” said a statement from Day’s office.
Day’s office said the declaration “seeks to establish a more structured framework” for cooperation in areas including border management, illegal immigration, law enforcement, money laundering, organized crime, terrorist financing and trafficking in people.
The partnership outlines an intent to share information, as well as exchange knowledge through training and educational exercises. The two countries would share the programs’ costs.
