Palestinian gunmen killed an Israeli soldier in a bomb attack on the Gaza Strip’s border.
Along with the soldier’s death, three others were wounded Thursday when a landmine ripped through their jeep at the Kissufim border crossing in central Gaza.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad issued separate claims of responsibility.
The attack looked likely to undermine efforts by Israel and the Palestinian Authority to revive peace talks following a troubleshooting visit this week by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
