Ukraine’s deputy vice prime minister will visit Israel.
Ivan Vasyunyk is expected to arrive Thursday for talks with high-level Israeli officials. He is expected to focus on issues concerning humanitarian cooperation.
A Ukrainian cabinet member told JTA that Vasyunyk would discuss the implementation of Israeli-Ukrainian agreements reached during President Viktor Yuschenko’s state visit to Israel in November, notably working with Yad Vashem to create educational programs about the Holocaust.
Vasyunyk is expected to follow up on the call on Israel to recognize the 1932-1933 Holodomor, or Famine in Ukraine, as an act of genocide.
