The Muslim man who foiled an attack on a group of Jews riding the New York subway was invited to the State of the Union address.
U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley (D.-N.Y.) presented Hassan Askari, 20, of Brooklyn his extra ticket to President Bush’s speech Monday to show appreciation for the heroic act last month.
Askari, a Bangladesh native, received two black eyes and a split lip while aiding the Jewish riders after they were attacked by 10 men and women who were insulted by their greeting of “Happy Chanukah.”
Crowley delivered a speech about Askari’s actions on the floor of the House of Representatives.
