The American Jewish Committee mourned the passing of Morris Fine, a former official with seven decades of affiliation with the organization.
Fine joined the AJC staff in 1937 and served in numerous capacities: head of the Jewish Research and Information Service; editor of the American Jewish Year Book; and director of foreign affairs. Fine was also responsible for combating Nazi propaganda in the United States and led AJC programs in Latin America, Europe and the Middle East.
“With sharp intellect, quiet demeanor and unbound passion for Jewish well-being and security, Morris made invaluable contributions to AJC, the Jewish people and the civic good,” said an AJC statement. “And his long years of service made him a venerated repository of AJC institutional memory. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his grieving family.”
