An official of a major German Jewish organization criticized plans for a Holocaust museum in Leipzig.
Solomon Korn, vice president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, said in an interview that there are many authentic historical locations in the former East Germany, including the memorials at the former concentration camps of Buchenwald and Sachsenhausen, and that a separate museum could distract people from visiting those places.
The Holocaust museum is planned for the former Soviet pavilion at the Leipzig fairgrounds.
