Washington’s planning commission approved a plan that would place the Israeli ambassador’s residence on embassy grounds.

The Israeli ambassador currently maintains a house in a different neighborhood. The Washington Jewish Week reported this week that the National Capital Planning Commission approved an expansion for the embassy that would include a three-story residence.

The move comes in part to reduce State Department costs in securing both sites.
