The Israeli commission investigating the 2006 Lebanon war will warn officials likely to be affected by its final report, likely delaying its issue until next year.

The Ha’aretz newspaper reported this week the decision to warn officials of consequences. The procedure will likely delay publication until next year, Ha’aretz reported. Israelis had expected a final report by the fall.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will face pressure to quit if the report recommends his resignation, although he has sworn he will not do so.

Olmert said the war would wipe out Hezbollah, the terrorist organization that launched the war. Instead, Hezbollah has reportedly rebuilt its forces to prewar strength.
