Israeli police will interview an Australian Jewish billionaire about allegations that he received assistance from Ehud Olmert in a bid to buy Bank Leumi.
The investigation of Olmert’s role in the 2005 sale of a controlling interest in the bank, when Olmert was finance minister, is one of several probes dogging the Israeli prime minister. A spokesman said a police delegation will travel to Sydney next week to meet with Frank Lowy, a shopping mall magnate.
Lowy denies any impropriety.
