A Russian reporter who died under mysterious circumstances
was investigating claims Russia sold weapons to Iran and Syria.

Ivan Safronov fell off the roof of his apartment building in
Moscow, a death authorities have deemed suicide.

His colleagues at Kommersant, the paper employing him,
disagreed. In a story Tuesday they said Safronov had evidence that Russia was
selling Sukhoi-34 fighter jets to Syria and S-300 anti-aircraft to Iran.

The Russians are allegedly selling the arms via
Belarus, a pariah state; that avoids charges that Russia is dealing with rogue
states.
