Israeli labor unions declared a strike. The Histadrut labor federation announced Monday that a nationwide strike would begin Wednesday to protest the fact that thousands of public-sector workers hadn’t received their wages. The last such strike took place in November, halting many areas of Israeli life, including airports, until a labor court issued back-to-work orders. The Finance Ministry vowed not to yield to strikers’ demands, saying unpaid salaries were the responsibility of individual municipalities, not the government.
