A resolution to ban Rabbi Meir Kahane’s ultra-nationalist “Kach” movement was sent to the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Security Committee today after the Knesset unanimously condemned the group and its leader. Kahane, who founded the Jewish Defense League in the U.S. during the 1960s, has been arrested a number of times in Israel for harassing Arabs and other provocative acts. He was held responsible for riots in the West Bank town of Ramallah last week after he distributed leaflets exhorting the Arabs to get out.
