Edgar M. Bronfman, chairman and chief executive officer of the Seagram Company Ltd., will lead a group of liquor industry executives on a week-long study tour of Israel sponsored by the United Jewish Appeal. Frank R. Lautenberg, UJA general chairman, announced that the first UJA National Liquor Industry Mission will depart from New York March 6 and return March 13.
The focus of the mission is on in-depth study of the present political, military, economic and humanitarian situation in Israel and will include meetings with key government and Jewish Agency officials and home visits with private Israeli families. Membership in the program is open to executives in the American liquor, beer and wine industries, including distillers, bottlers, wholesalers, distributors and retailers.
This is the second time in recent history that the UJA has sponsored an industry-wide mission on a national basis. A similar program for metals industry executives in February, 1975, proved to be a strong incentive to fundraising both within the industry and in the home communities of participants, Lautenberg said.
