Miss Israel, a 22-year-old Tel Aviv University student, won the 1976 Miss Universe crown last night. The contest in Hong Kong was televised live over CBS television. The new Miss Universe is Rina Messinger, a veteran of Israel’s Women’s Army Corp who is studying aerodynamics. The brown-haired beauty said she wants to design airplanes.
During the contest, Miss Messinger was asked what country she would like to visit and replied, “I would like to go to an Arab country. But I can’t, so I would like to go to Africa.” Miss Messinger listed her hobbies as ballet dancing and glider flying.
