The American Historical Association plans to devote a special session of its annual meeting this year to the presentation and discussion of papers on the Holocaust. The session, the first of its kind for the AHA, will take place Wednesday morning at the New York Hilton. This was announced by the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research, which is co-sponsoring the session with the Conference Group for Social and Administrative History.
The scholars and the subjects of their papers include: Randolf L. Braham of the City University of New York discussing “The Holocaust in Hungary: A Reinterpretation”; and Isaiah Trunk of YIVO analyzing “The Judenraete in Eastern Europe.” Among the discussants will be Hannah Arendt of the New School for Social Research. Arthur Hertzberg of Columbia University will moderate the session.
