Dr. Abraham Joshua Twerski, an ordained rabbi and a psychiatrist, has been appointed here as clinical director of the department of psychiatry of St. Francis General Hospital, an institution under Catholic auspices. Announcement of the appointment was made by Sister Mary Adele, administrator of St. Francis.
Dr. Twerski, who is descended from a line of prominent rabbis and Talmudic scholars, is clinical assistant instructor in psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and senior staff psychiatrist of May view State Hospital. He will resign the latter post when he takes up the St. Francis appointment next month.
