South African Jews Shocked over Attempted Assassination of Premier

The South African Jewish Beard of Deputies convened here last night for a previously scheduled inter-provincial conference, adopted a resolution expressing “profound shock” over the attempted assassination of Prime Minister Hendrik F. Verwoerd. The resolution wished Mr. Verwoerd “a speedy and complete recovery.”

The resolution was passed after the chairman of the Board of Deputies, Namic Philips, expressed his personal condemnation of the assassination attempt, and declared that “the Jewish community, along with other sections of the country, is horrified” by the attack on the Prime Minister,
