An appeal to Jewish federations and welfare funds and to the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York to aid in the work of the YIVO institute for Jewish Research was made here last night at the 30th annual conference of the Yiddish research group. The appeal came in the form of resolutions adopted at a session of the five-day parley.
The conference included a number of public sessions at which papers were heard dealing with varied subjects including studies of the Jewish catastrophe in Europe under the Hitler regime aspects of Jewish life in America, changes in religious literature and Yiddish linguistic developments. In addition, progress reports on Jewish research and historiography and YIVO activities during the past year were also heard.
