Abraham H. Feller, general counsel of the United Nations, committed suicide today. Mr. Feller, a native of New York City, who was the first American appointee to the United Nations secretariat, jumped out of the window of his Manhattan apartment. He was 47 years old. Secretary General Trygve Lie said today that Mr. Feller committed suicide because of the strain of defending U.N. employees ” against indiscriminate smears and exaggerated charges ” before a U.S. Grand Jury and the McCarran Internal Security Committee.
