A survey of the Jewish community in this city was launched this week under the auspices of the Argentine branch of the Yiddish Scientific Institute (YIVO). Jewish homes will be visited and tabulated by nine commissions set up by the survey group.
The Union of Polish and Lithuanian Jews in Argentina revealed this week that it has received a communication from the Jewish community in Lodz, Poland, requesting all Jews who survived the mass exterminations by the Nazi leader, Martin Weisz, should submit evidence about the crimes they witnessed. Weisz, who was arrested several weeks ago in Germany, will stand trial in Warsaw shortly for his war crimes against Jewish populations, particularly in the Vilna ghetto.
