The Yiddish Scientific Institute announced today the election of Louis H. Sobel as chairman of its board of directors. The Institute has been in existence for about 25 years as a world center for Yiddish scientific studies. It was established in 1925 in Vilna, Poland, and moved to New York in 1940.
