Alexandra Belkind, First Woman Doctor in Palestine, Dies at 72

Dr. Alexandra Belkind, first woman doctor in Palestine, died here today at the age of 72. She was among the first Jewish pioneers to arrive in Palestine from Russia as members of the Bilu group in 1882. She left 24,000 for a Home for Old Physicians in Rishon Lezion, the first Jewish colony in Palestine.
