The first Jewish daily newspaper in the Far East has begun publication as the Shanghai Jewish Chronicle featuring news of general interest in both English and German.

Publisher of the newspaper is Ossi Lewin a former Viennese journalist who is a refugee here Lewin was a leader of the Jewish State Party a Zionist organization in Vienna and was a contributor to the Neue Welt party organ published by Robert Stricker. The Chronicle started as a weekly representing the interests of German Jewish refugees in Shanghai.
