A joint memorandum by five leading Jewish organizations to the Evian refugee conference was disclosed here today as viewing mass emigration as no solution to Jewish troubles in central Europe because of the vast number affected.
The memorandum asked the Evian gathering to insist that the Austrian authorities give the same facilities for organized emigration as was originally provided in Germany. It suggested setting up of a small executive body by the conference to direct and super vise emigration and to undertake negotiations with Germany and countries of immigration.
The disclosure was made in a report of the Joint Foreign Committee submitted by Neville Laski at a meeting of the Board of Deputies of British Jews. The signatories to the memorandum were the council for German jewry, the Jewish colonization association, the HIAS-ICA Emigration Aid Society, the Agudath Israel and the Joint Foreign Committee, rep resenting both the anglo-Jewish association and the board of deputies.
