A Soviet government decree ordering the settlement of 4,000 Jewish families in Biro-Bidjan, the Jewish autonomous region, before the end of 1935, was published here today. The decree also calls for speeding up building of the Jewish autonomous region. A number of commissariats government departments are obligated by the decree to participate in the building of the Jewish region and are assigned specific tasks.
The decree reveals that the Soviet government intends to make Biro-Bidjan an industrial region and will develop the rich natural resources to be found there.
