A festival of outstanding personalities in stage, screen and radio, to be known as “Night of Stars,” has been made possible for September 20, by Col. Jacob Ruppert, who has contributed the use of the Yankee Stadium for that night to raise funds for the United Jewish Appeals for German Jewish relief, it was announced by the fundraising body.

Declaring that “no catastrophe in modern times compares in its tragic effects with the blow that has been struck at the Jewish people in Germany,” Col. Ruppert called upon the citizens of New York, “Christian and Jew alike,” to make a success of the function, which is expected to raise a substantial sum toward New York’s quota of $1,200,000 for the relief and rehabilitation of German Jews.

The festival is sponsored by the Amusement Division of the United Jewish Appeal, headed by Nathan Burkan, chairman. Associated with Mr. Burkan as vice-chairmen are Irving Berlin, Eddie Cantor, Jack Cohn, Felix F. Feist, Max Gordon, Sam H. Harris, George Jessel, Sam Katz, Abe Lastfogel, Louis Nizer, Boris Morros, Jack Pearl, Saul E. Rogers, Sigmund Romberg and Herman Shumlin. Dave Ferguson is secretary and Samuel Blitz, executive director.
