For the first time in the history of Duluth a Jewish synagogue and its members joined five non-Jewish churches in a union Thanksgiving service at the Pilgrim Congregational church. The Rabbi Harvey E. Wessel of Temple Emanuel read the scripture at the union services.

However, this is not the first time that a Rabbi and non-Jewish preacher have cooperated in Thanksgiving services. For five years the congregations of Temple Emanuel and the First Unitarian church have conducted Thanksgiving services together alternating at their churches each year. This is the first time that both of these two friendly congregations have joined other churches in union Thanksgiving services.
