The sum of $100,000 was raised at a banquet launching the United Jewish Campaign here. Dr. Nathan Krass and Miss Irma May were the speakers.
Prominent Jews of Montreal were present, as were Jews from Ottawa and other points in Quebec. Rabbi H. Abramowitz, President of the United Synagogue of America, presided.
The largest single contribution of $20,000 was made by Mark Workman.
A conference of representatives of all Jewish organizations of the city and Province of Quebec was held today. The campaign will continue for two weeks. A quarter of a million dollars is sought.
