Anyone who has ever listened to a BBC report- with or without reference to the level of truth in the journalism as referenced by media watch groups such as CAMERA- may be aware of their enthusiasm for the Palestinian cause. When British journalists have been held captive one wonders why such one sided bias continues to exist. How long will it take before tourists in their interaction with the denizens of the West Bank are used by the West to tout the peaceful nature of the inhabitants and their oppression - One can only anticipate the same irrational behavior.

The Elders, a name that would seem to summon up the acquisition of knowledge and one also imagines a degree of compassion, but like most hyperbolic salesmanship this group composed of former president Jimmy Carter, Mary Robinson and Desmond Tutu share a strong aversion to truth and the jewish people, while indulging in self righteous proclamations. . It must be truly unbearable to be obsessed with all things Jewish and yet bear nothing but malice while maintaining the pose of being an honest broker.

I suspect that as the Obama administration continues with the rhetorical flourishes which rendered him impervious to mainstream media criticism meets the reality of a world far more complicated than his fundamentalist followers have thus far envisioned a larger and larger percentage of his support both among voters and the media will begin to erode. One sees signs of this happening in small and larger ways. A New York magazine article (one which I have not read) is entitled "The selling and selling and selling of Obama" This was a magazine solidly behind the President. Further many personal friends of mine who were solid supporters are far more skeptical of his abilities to manage based on his performance. The extremely naive idea that altering the basic behavior of the mullahcracy through engagement, now reveals itself as an idea at best ill conceived. One hopes that the President himself comes to a change of heart and change of policy before the possibility for real change in Iran is forestalled for another generation. The momentum suggests that straightforward pressure from the Administration would result in the collapse of a regime which terrorizes its own populace and exports terrorism to the rest of the world.

Ultimately, Netanyahu's speech presented a realistic basis for peace. The four principles which he laid out seem to be a primer for any future Palestinian state, starting with the recognition of Israel as the legitimate home of the Jewish people. His father's comments would be irrelevant if the Palestinian people were accepting of a need for a two state solution. As far as Mr. Axelrod and Emmanuel I suspect self interest may be what guides their choices.

Institutional ethics emerge from cultural ethics. The culture of Egypt, a country which has maintained a cold peace with Israel, is seeped in the by products of what has been wrought by the Muslim Brotherhood, a radical Islamic institution which since its inception in the 1920s has called for the eradication of world Jewry. Egypt itself has been the largest purveyor and producer of Anti Jewish literature among these proven forgeries such as the Protocols of the Elders of Zion,. There is no great surprise that someone growing up in that culture would be poisoned by such ideological bias. Is there any surprise that the United Nations, despite having maintained a fairly honest record with regard to UNESCO would also be corrupted by the same forces poisoning other arms of its institutional mandate.
