I believe it would be advantageous if Israel were to use women with a good command of English to present ghe Israeli viewpointit would lend softer overtones to an explanation of Israel's actions and be more likely to be listened to.. Charles (Shaye) Abshez (Eibeshitz)

With the emergence of a new executive in the Conservative movement, it is time that the movement addressed the urgent problem of singles. In this regard, the executive could take its lead from developments in Toronto, Canada. The Orthodox rebbetzins have established a movement known as Sasson V' Simcha which encourages regular meetins at which the names of singles desirous of meeting other singles are introduced. Various social events are encouraged with volunteers taking the lead. It is time the Conservative movement took the initiative in this rewgard. Charles(Shaye)

The Rabbis, cantors, etc. in their deliberations, should involve the Rebbitzens. The ppurpose would be to set up nationwide groups to encourage the meetings of Jewish singles. The foundation for such a group entitled Sasson V' Simcha backed by Orthodox rebbitzens, but run by schedichem and volunteers, already exists in Toronto, Canada. More information can be obtained by calling (416) 256-1497. This suggestion has been made previously to the United Synagogue but no action has been taken, This is an idea whose time has come. Ortrhodox rebbitzens have started a movement entitled Sasson V' Simcha which strives to introduce Orthodox Jewish singles to one another. in Toronto. They have often been successful. It is tragic that Conservative rebbitzens in Canada and the U.S.. have not followed in their footsteps, They would be doing their singles a favor. Shaye
