Do the majority of respondents want to scrap Rabbinic Judaism and return to a cult of priests, shelve the service of the heart and return to animal sacrifices? Without the destruction of the Temple there would be no Yavne, no Mishna, no Gemorah, no Tosefot, no Midrashic literature, no commentaries, no sophisticated civilization into which Judaism has evolved over the past two millennia. Are the majority of poll respondents really Neo-Sadducees?

Calling a woman rabbi a maharat is like calling a same sex marriage a civil union: separate is implicitly unequal. When Weiss and his congregation are ready to embrace full gender equality they will find a welcoming home in the Conservative movement.
