I can't understand how justice is served by releasing him since he has no problem breaking laws of the United States--obviously the laws of halacha have provided him no guide to living.

It's interesting that the same people who hope to have "speaking privileges" regarding Israel in President Obama's administration look for ways to not earn that very privilege. I really respect Rabbi Lookstein for his decision to participate--he obviously has the emotional intellect to be a great leader!

Jews are not on trial over or with Madoff. Madoff is on trial and his industry is on trial as long as it doesn't clean itself up. If anyone wants or needs to accept any of Madoff's blame or guilt it is there own problem--and it's very sad. There are Jewish crooks, Gentile crooks, Muslim crooks, etc. No one group is "pure".

Rubashkin can no longer be trusted to lead any company responsible for conducting a "Kosher" business. While I understand the angst of our fellow Jews in Postville, I find it distressing that they are judging Rubashkin on what he provided for them rather than what he did to so many victims. Also, it is, in my opinion, the responsibility of the presidents of the Major Jewish Organizations to clean up this mess. This is, when you strip away all the nonsense, a problem created by a Jew that effects many many people--it is our responsiblity as a Jewish community to lead the effort to make Postville "whole" again.
