This is not about the crime against the girl, as bad as that was. This is about a person fleeing to escape the justice system. There is no statute of limitations on that. It is a separate crime, above and beyond the "rape". I don't care who you are, when you flee to a foreign country to escape justice you should be brought back.

Israel did what had to be done. After putting up with Hamas and PA bombs and missiles the Israelis took necessary action to protect it's citizens. HRW ignores Hamas continued use of human shields and their practice of hiding terrorists and equipment (munitions) in and around mosques and civilian businesses. They are as bad as Hussein's practice of repainting military bases to look like factories and day-cares.

Of the 15 people arrested, 14 of them were charged with a form of stealing. Pardon me but isn't that a direct violation of the Law? לא תגנב׃ I can think of several places in both the Torah and the Christian "New Testament" that discourage the trade in human body parts. No one should accuse an entire group of people for the actions of the few.

It's amazing. No other nation that I am aware of warns its enemies when it is going to attack. I'm not disagreeing with the IDF, I'm just amazed. Yet the world has the gall to accuse Israel of being inhumane and committing war crimes. It just shows that people are going to hate Jews no matter how hard they try to do what is right. Thank you Israel for doing the right thing.

Maybe I'm missing something here. What connection is there there between starving your child, being emotionally disturbed and being Orthodox?

Referring to Myron J's comment. This is the beauty of an online news source. Space is not at the premium that it is in a news paper. These small pieces are a welcome from the constant barrage of world shattering events we see on the front page of the print papers. Keep up the good work JTA.

I applaud these hotels for their willingness to serve their guests. I would like to point out that while correct behavior is a good thing, it should come from the heart. If you need to have all temptations removed in order to act according to you beliefs I have to wonder how well founded your beliefs are. Yes, the Torah specifies that certain acts are to be avoided, but this should be because you love G-d and want to do as He asks.

Posted in: Bakery owned by Jew for Jesus gets kashrut back
I'm wondering why becoming a Christian would render your bakery less than Kosher. Almost all of the Christian apostles of the first century (CE) we Jews and even Jesus was Jewish. Nothing in New Testament teaching stops a person from living a totally Kosher life. I think that the confusion set in when it was determined that Gentiles did no have to become Jews before being accepted into the Christian church. But there was never anything taught that would stop a Jew from living as Moses taught.

I am deeply saddened that Israel such vocal enemies as Roger Cohen. I'm sure that Mr. Cohen does not think of himself as a enemy of Israel, but the facts are plain. Consider that during every cease fire Hamas takes advantage to the lull in fighting to re-arm. Consider that Iran's president has, many times, declared that he would like to see Israel "wiped off the face of the map" and even once used the phrase that Israel "would be nothing more than a large, smoking crater". Consider that Iran, according to all western countries, is working to obtain the weapons needed to carry out this threat. Tell me one more time, Mr. Cohen, why Israel should abandon her best weapons? And to say that Iran makes rational decisions? One only needs to look at the last election and the inhuman stomping that dissenters received to refute that statement. Maybe, if you are so in love with Iran, Mr. Cohen, you might consider moving your family there.
