I am sorry to remind all the hard line people but the one thing Israel can do in order to lose this & any future war is to have the world against them. Israel lost the last skirmish into Lebanon not on the battle field but in the headlines. Israel is again making the mistake of public relations. The last thing they should have done was to go into Gaza “NOW” just days before Obama takes over. The “LAST” thing they should have done ws to put this mess on his already very very full plate without even talking to him about it. Let’s all get our heads in one place, Israel “needs” the US & dumping this Gaza thing now was just plain “STUPID” & was done for one reason & that was for the Israel elections, not for anything else. The rockets have been coming for months, a few more weeks would not have hurt anyone but could have “HELPED” Israel...Face it the air attacks now were based on stupidity & selfishness not on even simple reason… (Please don’t tell me waiting a month or so more would have cost lives, this mess will cause more lives & more harm then would have been done by waiting) Marty

J Street is utterly wrong if they believe that to negotiate with Hamas is the right path to take...Israel cannot negotiate with a group that wants to extinguish the Jewish state, totally and forever..Hamas is a viper in the Middle East.. First, they must be defanged. Let Israel finish what it must do, completely. Then, peace can be a strong possibility and all people can live without fear of rockets and bombs exploding upon their heads…

Israel is thoroughly justified in defending itself against terrorism. I cannot understand how Jewish groups can say “no one has a monopoly on right or wrong”!! I am a firm believer in peace. However, Hamas has stated that its goals are to destroy Israel. To me, that is not peace and Israel must show strength.

These quartet of liberal groups is in the same way “pro-Israel” as

members of the “Judenrats” in the Ghettos of Nazi-occupied Poland were “pro-Jewish”. Those are self-hating Jewish enemies of Israel and so are those who support them, politically or financially. JTA would do Jewish community a favor by ignoring them,

The battle between Hamas and Israel is one of nerve and will. The ones calling for a “political settlement” are delusional in their thinking that Hamas is interested in anything other than the destruction of Israel. I am all for a political settlement, but it cannot be based on a failure of nerve or will to get rid of enemies who have no interest in peaceful co-existence. There is entirely too much talk by Jews about “proportionality” and other niceties that bear no relationship to present reality. Why bother to have an Israel if it cannot defend its citizens from terrorism?

Extremely disheartening to see the large part of the US Jewish community lose its soul and talk about actions in Gaza being “counterproductive to peace” - what kind of peace? With whom? With people teaching their children that it is a virtue to kill me and other Jews? Why are they not speaking out on behalf of their fellow Jews, and those who defend them?
